Sliding scale: $15-$20 single class; $40-$45 for 3 classes; $75-$80 for 6 classes
Each class is distinct and will emerge in response to people in the room that day. These classes are intended for advanced and intermediate contemporary dancers, with all levels welcome to participate, making mindful adjustments to suit their abilities.
Drop-ins are welcome! No one turned away for lack of funds.

Description:
Spiral Body Techniques® (SBT) is the dance and movement framework developed by choreographer Molly Shanahan. The Winter Solstice SBT® class series at Mascher will be taught by Kalila Kingsford Smith and Harlee Trautman, both certified Essential Level SBT teachers.
Essential Level Spiral Body Techniques® classes introduce and develop foundational movement principles, emphasizing increasing whole-self dancing, articulation and coordinated availability of the ball-and-socket joints, and moving with a dynamic center through the release and reengagement of musculature.
All phrasework in SBT is spontaneously composed, so both the teacher and the student are practicing learning the phrase at the same time, generating repeatable phrases of increasing complexity that emphasizes the body’s intelligence more than “getting the steps right.” We will practice the somatics of sensing and exploring these movements in order to “really dance” the more complex phrasework.

Dance Flow

It’s like dancing in your kitchen, but in community!
Get in touch with the way your body likes to move in a structured dance class appropriate for all levels. We’ll warm up mindfully, flow into expressive rhythmic movement, and cool down with fluid stretching. Expect to raise your heart rate, build new skills, and let the music move you!

Myofascial Release Ball Class w/ Kalila
Sunday December 14, 2025 from 1:30-3 pm
Sliding scale $20-$30, 10 people (14 maximum if there are sign ups who can bring their own set of release balls)

Description:
In this hour and a half workshop we will roll on the small red Franklin Method balls to target common pain points in the body like lower back, hips, shoulders, and neck. We will experience options for myofascial release using these small balls and incorporate them into brief Pilates flows. This class is perfect for you if you have been craving an hour and a half of softening your body tension and leaning into myofascial release, or if you have a set of balls at home and don’t quite know what to do with them!
